Before all the drama began, we stopped to see Grandpa, whose roses are blooming . . .
Then came the drama.First, we got Nick sent off to Maryland. He got to our place without any problems. Unfortunately, our things didn't get there for another week, so he had to buy some basics to get him by. It was pretty lonely for him.
The next catastrophe was that our place had some problems and Nick didn't know if it was somewhere we'd want to stay. The apartment itself was great. The down side was that although they list it as being a third-floor apartment, it's actually on the ground level. There are air conditioning units that are loud and ugly right outside our windows, and the view is of an ugly building, driveways, and super smelly dumpsters, plus cockroaches greeted him. If you recall, my one joy of moving out of the basement apartment was to finally have windows. What would we do with windows that we'd never want to open?
Nick called and suggested that we might want to try finding something else. So, in the middle of trying to paint my mom's living room, I was also searching online for apartments (no internet for Nick, who was sitting on the floor of a completely empty apartment). I found a few places to look at, then poor Nick had to traipse around looking at some places on his own. We found a townhouse only blocks from our current apartment, and Nick really liked it on his first visit.
By the next day, however, he couldn't remember why he'd liked it and wondered if we ought to just stay there. It was too hard of a decision to make on his own (plus he was lonely). In a last-minute decision, I booked a flight to go visit him and help him find another place to live (Nick met me at the airport with flowers). I left mom in a huge mess painting (sorry, mom), but I got there, we looked at some places, and finally settled on the townhouse. It is definitely the place for us.
After three airplane rides home, I am finally finishing up mom's room (pictures coming later) and tying up loose ends to drive out there later this week. Whew! Sadly, I had to leave Nick to coordinate the move from one apartment to another (sorry, Nick).
So, there is the drama of our lives. I hope to avoid it in the future.
Our old view:
Here's hoping that Nick can get everything moved over, I can finish painting and putting mom's house back together, and mom and I can drive out without any more bumps in the road.I should also mention that Nick had his first day of work and is doing great. Typical new-job stuff.

Moving is exhausting enough without all the drama! I'm glad you found a place you guys like better. Hope it all goes well, and I'm sorry I didn't get to see you again!!
Man.., that's too bad about having to move! But you're new one sounds better! Great view! Good luck with the move!
Hey I think I was driving behind you in price one morning when you were on your way out...like 7:15ish? I wanted to honk but chickened out. I'm glad you found a good place!
Wow, what a week! The view is so pretty in the new place...that's worth the switch and drama right there!
The new view is MUCH better :) Good luck driving...it is a long one...I am glad that you have your mom with you for it.
If you need a place to stay in Lincoln, I could try and round one up for you. Let me know if you do.
Holy smokes! I agree with your guys' decision even without seeing the inside... your new view is beautiful! I think having natural light/beautiful views are definite musts:). Good to hear that Nick's job is going well! Good luck with everything!
Sad - that sounds so stressful! I'm so glad you guys made the move though - I's sure you won't regret it. Oh, and I love the view from the new place - I predict that you're going to spend a lot of time by the windows. P.S. Our old Walmart in Salt Lake had the cart escalator thing and it never got old. :)
Craziness! It makes a huge difference where you live, though. When we were in Boston, we lived in a stinky apartment, and I was seriously throwing up all of the time (pregnant also). But I wonder if my experience would have been different if we had lived in a nicer place. Maybe?
i love the new view and am so glad that you will get to use your windows! good luck with everything!
Don't you love all of the not so pleasant surprises that come with moving across the country!! Good luck with the rest of it! We FINALLY made it to Utah! We are moving into an apt. for the first year then {hopefully} buying a house!
I forgot to ask if you're taking I-80 out there? if you are, wave at Davenport for me as you drive by!! And if you need a place to crash I can call in some favors. :)
How crazy! I'm so glad that you found someplace that you will like. We can't wait to see you guys :)
Yipes! You had my number that whole time. I hope he found some nice Elder's quorum guys to help. Seriously call next time. You'll have to let me know where your new house is and if you need anything.
Like the new view.
