Mt. Vernon

Last night Mom, Jenn & Kristen flew in for their week of visiting! I'm so excited to have them here. Today we went to Mt. Vernon, the home of George Washington. The weather was perfect.

This picture of George Washington is really hard to describe. It was indented into the wall and parts of his face were sculpted. No matter where you were standing in the room, it looked like he was turning his head to look at you. It was pretty incredible.

The first look at the house is so striking.

I love seeing the Potomac river through the arches.

This little sheep escaped from the pen and was wandering around. I just missed getting a picture of him bumping against a little boy who was so startled he ran for his life. Who would run from such a cute little lamb?

The tomb of George and Martha Washington.

Kristen at the wharf.

After visiting Mt. Vernon, we stopped in Old Town Alexandria, walked around and ate at Cosi.

Jenn was daring and tried some of Kristen's Tuscan Pesto Chicken sandwich.

On our way home we stopped to pick Nick up from work.
