Goodbye, Grandpa.

After a long struggle, Grandpa Hassinger was finally able to leave this world. He has been ready to go for weeks, but his body was hanging on. Mom, Aunt Layna and Uncle Floyd have been tirelessly taking care of him the last couple of weeks. He always said how grateful he was to have family to take care of him, and I know Grandma has been smiling down on you - so proud of your love for him and each other.

Of all my grandparents, I had the most personal relationship with him. It was hard to be so far away and say my goodbyes over the phone. He has meant so much to me, and I'm going to miss him tremendously.
I love you, Grandpa!

I'm so sorry. I understand, though. I was really close to my grandpa and it was so hard for me to see him leave.

I always admired how upbeat and positive he was. And I will never forget the story of he and your grandma getting married, all the travel for him and then having to turn around and leave again. I am relieved, as I am sure you and your family are, to hear he is out of pain. I am so glad you lived with him for that time so that I was blessed to know him too. Keep me posted on the funeral info. Would I be totally barging in if I tried to come to it?

It doesn't matter if it's time for them to go---it'll always be hard.
Love that picture of you and him.

Hi Em, I have been meaning to let you know how sorry I was to hear about your grandpa. I only got to meet him a couple of times, but he was always so sweet. Do you remember that time that he went to see a movie with us? That was so much fun. Again, I am really sorry, but thankfully we know where he is and that he is truly happy now.
