DC Temple Festival of Lights

Christmas is a busy time of year at the DC Temple. They have hundreds of people come almost every night of the month to the visitor's center. The lights are beautiful, the visitor's center is decorated with many beautiful Christmas trees, and there is an international creche display.
Each night they have a musical performance with two showings. Tonight Nick and I went to see a hand bell choir. I'm excited to live so close and be able to go see a few of the other performances this month.
Jenny Oaks Baker - I've heard her violin music, but haven't ever seen her perform live.
Sandra Turley - She played Cosette in a Les Miserable production and is apparently amazing. I'm going with the young women in the ward to that performance.
And finally, the Sister Missionaries - To especially support two of my favorites, Sister Cagnacci and Sister Sorensen. I went to appointments with them a few times when they served in our ward.
Aren't they cute? Sis. Sorensen is so tiny and has a cute little voice to match.
I just love Sis. Cagnacci. She has great Italian charm. While looking at the Christmas trees, I happened to recognize the folks in this picture. I couldn't get the camera to focus, but it's my cousin Brenda and her family. That was fun to happen across.

Last of all, we took pictures of some of the creche displays that reminded us of friends and family (or that we just liked).
I loved this drawing from Argentina.
Poland for the JEPSEN clan!
Eskimos for Peter who served his mission in Alaska.
Finland for our friend Eeva.
If you like baked goods, or just enjoy looking at pictures of beautiful food, check out the link to her recipe blog on my sidebar.
Japan for my dad, who served his mission there.
This was our very favorite. It is from Spain and has a simple elegance and beautiful detail. If you ever see a nativity like that for sale - call me!

Those pictures were all great---and how cool to see all those performances! I loved the Argentine one, too.

Beautiful! I think it's so awesome you live so close to so many amazing things... I admit I'm a little jealous;).

Happy belated Birthday! Everything fits so nice in your desk/TV stand. How nice to have the printers have a home.

We love the area at Christmas time too!
