This Sunday was rather eventful. Church was great, as usual. We were invited to dinner at another member's house.
On our way home, we decided to go for a little drive. I found a historic church set next to a cemetery on one of my drives last week. I wanted to show it to Nick, but I didn't know if I could find it again. I did find it! Isn't it cute?We kept driving and saw this massive area of historic buildings. Most were in major disrepair, but some, like this pagoda, were restored and beautiful.
Then we turned the corner and saw this restored historic building. It is AMAZING! It is the National Seminary Park. It started as an Inn, then became a girl's school from 1892-1942, then it was used by the Army. Eventually the community and some other organizations pulled together to save it. They have been working with developers to restore and re-purpose it into residential condo units. The complex itself is very beautiful. They have also done a great job of planning the units. Each unit has it's own unique floor plan. We were in awe.
One of the most amazing rooms was the ballroom. It is restored beautifully, with the original chandeliers and enormous wooden speaker. This picture just doesn't do it justice. Residents can reserve the space for parties and events. That would be one awesome place for a church dance, if you ask me :)
Condos go for anywhere from $400,000-$900,000. It is now at the top of my "don't I wish I could afford to live there" list.
Unfortunately, our car wouldn't start for us again, and we got stranded there. We came right from church, so we didn't have our cell phones. Luckily the Realtor was really kind and stayed an extra hour to let us use her phone and wait for the tow truck to come. I had written down a couple of phone numbers for girls in the ward, so we were able to have someone meet us at the auto shop and give us a ride to our dinner appointment. Whew! Let's hope that they can find what's wrong and finally get it fixed, because we're running out of people to help bail us out of these stranded situations we keep getting into.

We love taking drives just around to different places... discovering our local area. Keep up the good blog posts so we know how things are going! Good luck with the car. How frustrating!
Those buildings are pretty amazing! And I am sorry about your car. I hope they figure out what is making him sick. :)
