Since our camera cord is MIA, and I can't post pictures of our 4th of July festivities, I thought I'd share with you a project I worked on in college.
I was lucky enough to work with Susan Easton Black doing research for some publications, and the main project I was over was The Best of the Frontier Guardian. I have been waiting and waiting to get a copy, and it is finally for sale here!
My friend Becky and I spent hours and hours combing through the old newspapers. The papers were sent to a place in India, I think, and typed. Our job was to take the originals and compare them with the electronic version. We edited, added and got them as close to the originals as we could. The overall plan was to have a search-able, electronic version to accompany the originals in a book. I haven't seen the actual publication yet, but I feel such a strong connection with Orson Hyde and the pioneers waiting in Iowa to join the Saints in Utah, that I am just dying to re-read the great articles, stories and ads.
If you enjoy pioneer history, it may be something to take a look at.
