Finished Project #8

Duct Tape Dress Form
I saw this tutorial online a while ago and thought it would be fun to try - and hopefully useful if I ever find the time to start learning to make clothes again.

I used this old coat stand from my mom's basement and sprayed it black.
Nick spent about an hour taping me up. You wear an old t-shirt that you can cut up the back. We started with regular gray duct tape, then went over it again with colored tape because I think it looks better than the gray. If I were to do it over again, I'd just do one layer because an hour is a long time and the second layer really wasn't necessary.
Then he cut it off, we taped it back together, and I put the dress form on the stand - measuring so it would be my correct height - and filled it with poly-fil.

Voila!
Here it is sporting my cute new summer dress from Dressbarn!

That's really very cool! Even if you never use it for making clothes, it's a cute way to display whatever you're going to wear the next day.

That's the coolest thing ever! I don't even sew, but I would totally make one of those just as a decoration. Cute!
