We're Back!!!
We finally got the telephone and internet connection fixed here at grandpa's. The poor technician had to crawl up into the attic to install a new splitter because the other one was to old to handle the new technology. Things seem to be working great now! Maybe tomorrow I will try putting some pictures up, but for now I'll just give a brief update on the last couple of weeks.
Nick just returned from his last set of interviews. He is very tired of traveling and has a lot of classwork to get caught up on.
Last week he spent two days in New York City. On the way over, his plane had a set-up where each passenger had his own little TV and you could choose from different things to watch. The system had some problems, but there was a fun trivia program where you actually played against other people on the plane. Nick won one of the rounds. He enjoyed walking down Broadway, seeing Times Square and Central Park. At one of the restaurants he went to for lunch they ordered exotic cheeses for desert and he tried some of the grossest cheese he says he's ever tasted. YUCK! Who orders cheese for desert anyway?
This week he was in Washington, DC for 4 days. He got there at about 11:00pm only to find out that the hotel had a delegation that ended up staying over an extra night so they didn't have a room for him anymore. They have him $25 and sent him down the road to stay at another hotel and when he came back the next day they upgraded him from a $360/night room to a $1100/night suite. Oh why couldn't I have been with him on that trip!?! He bought a disposable camera to take pictures so when they're developed I'll post some. He says it was a beautiful and large room with two bathrooms, two flat-screen TVs, king-sized bed, two desks, four closets . . . . .
One of the firms took him to a restaurant that brought out a huge bowl of cotton candy at the end of the meal. Does anyone else think that's a little random? He said it was really tasty stuff.
So far his interviews have been successful. He's received offers from all of the firms (we obviously haven't heard from the DC firms yet, but it looks good)
Well, if you're still reading, you can know that our exciting weekend consisted of sleeping in, grocery shopping, going to see a somewhat disappointing movie, playing in the rain and drinking hot chocolate. Tomorrow we'll make a cake for my school's carnival cake walk on Monday.

Glad to see you're back in commission. Nick has been busy! Man, that sounds like quite the room. Too bad there was only him to watch those two flat screens and use both bathrooms!! :) that's great that he's got so many offers to choose from. The cheese and cotton candy things are pretty random! I would definately pick the cotton candy for dessert though over the cheese.
Welcome back, Emily! I missed hearing your updates :) Congrats to Nick on all his successes! He is amazing, and I'm glad he is getting the recognition he deserves from the interviews. I think interviewing is always interesting, but seldom too exciting and fun - and companies really try to lure the ones they want - but cotton candy and exotic cheeses sound like a first!
Nick-I'm very impressed with how well your interviews are going and glad my friend managed to marry such a great guy.
Em-I really hope the disappointing movie wasn't 'Sydney White' cuz I went and saw that this weekend and LOVED it!
You are both great! I'm so impressed with how posistive you are even though things must be crazy with you teaching and Nick being gone and catching up with school. I love you guys! (I'm curious about the disappointing movie too...)
Congratulations to you guys! It's still hard for me to picture you married, out on your own, getting adult jobs and all that. But I guess since Julia is the same, she's running her own business...it seems like you guys aren't 5 anymore.
That's great news about the law firms...congrats to him! john just got his LSAT score back..He got a 160..not as good as he hoped but not too bad! Haha....
